Cryolipolysis: The safe and effective way to get rid of fat

People almost worship the ideal body type! We try everything to lose weight, including Zumba, Crossfit, Sports, Running, Cardio, and a variety of ridiculous diets. And those who are pushing their limits are frequently forced to undergo invasive surgeries. But what if there was a fat removal procedure that could help us achieve our weight-loss goals in a quick and non-surgical manner? Fortunately, there is the Coolsculpting procedure.

What is Cryolipolysis or Coolsculpting?

Cryolipolysis is an FDA-approved method for losing weight and inches that involves freezing fat cells. This non-surgical procedure is typically used to remove stubborn fat that is difficult to lose even with diet and exercise. So achieving your ideal appearance is now a possibility. This treatment, also known as coolsculpting, is ideal for removing fat from the chin, belly, arms, thighs, love handles, and even the buttocks. According to Harvard, approximately 8 million people worldwide have seen positive coolsculpting results following the procedure.

Who can have Cryolipolysis?

Anyone who wants to look close to their ideal body weight can benefit from the Coolsculpting treatment or body contouring. It is important to recognize that coolsculpting arms, thighs, or any other fat-heavy area of the body will not result in significant weight loss. This is not a quick fix for weight loss, but rather a method for removing stubborn fat from various parts of the body. Individuals who are within 9-10 kgs of their ideal body weight can have this treatment.

If you have severe cold sensitivity and Raynaud's phenomenon, or if you have cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, coolsculpting or body contouring is not for you. Before undergoing any clinical procedure, always consult with your aesthetician.

What is the procedure for Coolsculpting?

The Coolsculpting treatment is customised to each individual's body type and physique. Like any other cosmetic procedure, you begin with the experts consulting you on the comprehensive approach and analysing your body from various angles before deciding which parts of your body you want to eliminate fat from.

It is essential to target bulge areas that trouble you and are difficult to eliminate. For some people, a customised treatment may include 1-6 sittings (although you will notice a difference from the first session). Your doctor will determine whether this is a suitable treatment for you based on your needs. In terms of the main procedure, the coolsculpting treatment utilises the science of cryolipolysis, which uses cold temperatures to freeze and destroy fat cells.

The doctor would then move a handheld device (that also looks like the nozzles of a vacuum cleaner) over the fat cells whilst still administering suction and cooling technology with the help of a gel pad (over the targeted area). Some common complaints include minor discomfort and pulling and pinching sensations, but treatment is generally painless. Following the treatment, the doctor will massage the affected area to break up any frozen deep tissue, allowing your body to absorb the destroyed fat cells. The body naturally processes and eliminates these frozen fat cells.

People often read, work on their laptops, listen to music, or do other things while their coolsculpting treatment lasts between 1-3 hours. This procedure also requires very little recovery time, which means you can probably return to work right away and benefit from the coolsculpting results.

What to Expect During Treatment?

You may feel a slight tingling sensation in the target area while undergoing this fat freezing procedure. This is normal because the equipment freezes unnecessary fat cells in your body. With the continuous sucking and tugging sensation, those same frozen fat cells will be flushed out of your system with time, helping you in naturally draining the excess fat.

These intense cold, tingling, stinging, pulling, aching, and cramping sensations will naturally decrease once the body contouring process is completed. You can almost immediately resume your normal activities.

How long does it take to complete the procedure?

The coolsculpting procedure can take anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on the target area. You could also be called for follow-up sessions in the coming weeks to analyse your body and determine whether any more fat needs to be drained from the target area.
